How to Play
Guess the place and the year.
WenWare is a time travel geoguessr inspired game where players explore immersive 360° historical scenes. Then pinpoint both the location and year of the moment they’re standing in, having to guess both when and where they are.
New maps added every day.
The basic loop
- Start a game and look around the 360° historical scene.
- Study the clues: landscape, architecture, clothing, tools, vehicles, signs, art, weather, and anything happening in the scene.
- Place your pin on the map where you think the moment happened.
- Choose the year using the timeline.
- Submit your guess to reveal the answer, your distance error, your year error, and the source article.
- Play five rounds, then compare your final score.
How scoring works
Each round scores both where and when. A strong answer needs a good map pin and a good year guess; being close in only one category will still leave points on the table.
- Location score rewards how close your map pin is to the real place.
- Time score rewards how close your selected year is to the event year.
- Your total score combines all five rounds.
Game modes
Singleplayer is the standard five-round game. Multiplayer lets two players compete head to head with the same route. Party mode supports a larger group, with rankings at the end. Daily gives every signed-in player the same shared route for the day.
Routes and archives
You can play everything at once, or choose a route from the Archive. Routes can follow an era, a region, or a theme, so a game can focus on Ancient history, the Nile Valley, modern wars, inventions, art, or other curated paths.
Using the Atlas
The Atlas lets signed-in players browse rounds spatially. Move through time, inspect map points, and open panorama previews to understand how different places connect across the same year or period.
